Dream Theater's Album Covers

Dream Theater's album covers are renowned for being usually very interesting. Larry Freemantle designed the covers of the second and the third Dream Theater albums, Images and Words (1992) and Awake (1994). In both cases, the band instructed Freemantle to include several lyrical references in the cover, such as a clock showing six o'clock, a mirror and a spider in the middle of a web for the tracks "6:00", "The Mirror" and "Caught in a Web" respectively of the Awake album. Paul Whitehead is a British painter and graphic artist known for his surrealistic album covers for artists on the Charisma Records label in the 1970s, such as Genesis, Van Der Graaf Generator, Peter Hammill and Italian prog rock band Le Orme. Read more here.

Mark Wilkinson, born in Windsor, England on 3 October 1952, is a British illustrator. He is best known for the detailed cover art that he created for a number of British bands, most prominently the neo-progressive rock band Marillion in the 1980s. Read more here. 

Emerson, Lake & Palmer's Album Covers

The most interesting Emerson, Lake and Palmer's album covers are those of the albums Tarkus (1971), Pictures at an Exhibition (1971) and Brain Salad Surgery (1973). The cover art of the first two albums was designed by the English artist, painter and graphic designer William Neal who achieved international recognition after working for the progressive rock band.   Read more here.

Rush-Gold (2006)

Hugh Syme is a Canadian Juno Award-winning graphic artist who is best known for his artwork and cover concepts for rock and metal bands. He is also a musician and has appeared in some Rush songs as a keyboard player. Syme is notably responsible for all of Rush's album cover art since 1975's Caress of Steel as well as creating Rush's famous Starman logo. Read more here.

Roger Dean is an English artist, designer, architect, and publisher. He is best known for his work on posters and album covers for musicians, particularly for prog rock musicians, which he began painting in the late 1960s. The covers often feature exotic, fantasy landscapes. Read more here.
